2026 Lucasverse Fanfiction Contest Winner: Authorized Driver by Kwon Jun
The results are in! I’m excited to announce that Kwon Jun’s “Authorized Driver” is the winning story of the 2026 Lucasverse Fanfiction Contest!
This year’s contest invited readers to step into the Lucasverse and tell their own stories using its heroes, villains, worlds, and characters. After going through the submissions, Authorized Driver stood out as a clever, funny superhero adventure that feels right at home in the universe—and I’m very happy to officially welcome it into Lucasverse canon.
Meet Authorized Driver
After wrecking the Rubbermobile, teenage sidekick Beams is stuck with a humiliating new punishment: a sarcastic AI called Rubberband riding along in his helmet to monitor his decisions.
Unfortunately, the driving lesson doesn’t last long.
A mysterious new villain calling himself Override seizes control of Golden City’s connected machines, including police transports, rescue drones, and the Rubbermobile itself. With a countdown ticking over City Hall, Beams has to stop him before the entire city falls under Override’s control. There’s just one problem: Override has valid authorization—and Beams barely has permission to drive his boss’s car.
What follows is a fast-paced superhero showdown involving rogue vehicles, flying drones, questionable property damage, and an unexpectedly philosophical argument with an artificial intelligence about who gets to make the rules.
Congratulations to Kwon Jun!
Kwon Jun is a South Korea-based creator, and I want to congratulate him on taking first place in this year’s contest. His story does a great job capturing Beams’s personality and the humor of the Minimum Wage Sidekick series while introducing a new threat with a fun central concept.
As the winner, Authorized Driver is being officially canonized into the Lucasverse, and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with readers.
